Life's A Beach-Flamingo Challenge @ BBTB2

Happy Monday Everyone and you know what that means..................Over at Bitten By the Bug 2 it is challenge day! My fellow Design Team Sister Melissa has chosen the Flamingo on the Life's a Beach Cartridge and Melissa wanted us to "kick it up a notch" and not make it your "normal pink" flamingo! You know, use some crazy paper, crazy color, just about anything to make it different. So I found some older BasicGrey papers that I still LOVE! I bought this paper to do some layouts and mini books a few years ago for McCade and just found a Brand New package of it so what better "different" papers are these to bring out some color!
First of all I used the square card feature to make a card. Cut it at 5 1/2" and then had to add some layers to it. The next layer is the Happy Birthday cut with the flamingo attached and cut a t 4". There isn't a shadow cut on this cartridge and I needed a bit more substance and color so I "stretched the Happy Birthday cut just a bit to give it a bit of a border and the cut off the flamingo and just used the saying. The black flamingo layer added to the card is also cut at 4" and then for my "Pop" of color and "different kicked up a notch" flamingo was cut out of some bright blue.
Added the Palm Tree cut at 5 1/2" and added a few layers to it and of course had to add some bling as the coconuts! I did some faux stitching and added a flower and a bit more bling also. Now remember if you don't own Life's a Beach, use any flamingo to join us this week in the challenge.

I almost didn't get this done since we have still been doing the home renovations this week. I was having withdrawals this week not being able to do anything but work on the house. I was guest Master Olive over at Olive Juice Studio and didn't get a chance to bask in the glow of being a celebrity, Ken had me working like a commoner! LOL I barely even got to check my e-mails all week. (Boy did I have ALOT of e-mails when I finally got to check them!) But we have finally got the major rooms done and they are now being used as our extra rooms and McCade has a whole new room, which is Soooooooo GREAT! And I FINALLY have more room! And, wait for it........................................MY OWN CRAFT SPACE!!!!!! That is a miracle in itself! It is still a work in process but I tried it out yesterday when making this card and it's going to work out pretty nice. I have to say tho that the card isn't exactly what I wanted because I needed "more" to it (if you know me I like to ADD) and I couldn't get to/find my cuttlebug so I didn't get to emboss anything and I think that's what it needed. Just that little bit of Oomph, you all know what I mean, especially after you've embossed anything, it's just not finished sometimes until you emboss. Well that is my goal today, get "my space" together and find my cuttlebug. And I get to go though all my crates of "older" supplies that have been in storage in what seems like forever. So it may be just like Christmas for me today! I'll keep you posted this week what I find, It may work out pretty good because next week is the last Monday of the month and you all know what that means........... Blog Hop time so make sure you come back next week and see what BBTB2's challenge will be next week! So until then have a great week and hopefully I will be able to post more this week.
Take Care and Froggie ((Hugs)) Theresa

Wow, I love your card. I have that red dotted BG paper too, and I sometimes pick it up 5 times before I can make myself use it. Your card is just perfect with that beautiful blue flamingo.

Theresa what a great card! I love the tropical feel without using traditional tropics papers. I too have some "oldie but goodie" basic grey papers. I had them out yesterday for a project!
I think my favorite part of the card is the BLUE flamingo popping from the frame and those awesome coconuts!!! Great job. And CONGRATS on the craft room!!!
